The world is generally convinced that poverty is an important issue that needs to be dealt. Many countries around the world recognized and aim to end poverty. In particular, the Millennium Development Goal was set. Specifically, the 189 countries that signed the document agreed to cut poverty rate of 1990 in half by 2015.
As a result of collaborative effort, people living under poverty in developing countries has been reduced from 50% to 14%.
Many of the aid to eliminate poverty comes from developed country's help. With short-term aid, such as money and resources, long-term aid, such as hospitals and railroads, and debt relief, third world countries have prospered and there is a significant drop in poverty ratio.
